LIVERPOOL FALL

Liverpool suffered a second straight defeat in all competitions after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of arch rivals Manchester United. Before these two defeats, Liverpool were on a run that saw them proudly sit top of the table after a long time. However, the two back-to-back 1-0 defeats have taken the confidence out of the team. Manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he is happy with the way the season has so far turned out for the team. Even though he had brought in several new players in the summer, the former Swansea manager says that he is still not done with his purchases yet.

He is hoping to bring in some new players to the club in January, which is unlikely to go down well with the fans and owners. Several players including Victor Moses have arrived to the club during the summer. Even though they have made a good start, the last two defeats have made people stand up. Last season, the club finished a disappointing seventh in the Premier league under Rodgers. He said that Liverpool will definitely be able to challenge for top four this season, but he has now said that a top six position by January would be great for the team.

“The players have made an excellent start. We were disappointed at the weekend, we were a bit flat and subdued and just couldn’t really get going. Part of that was because of the players we have available, but I know that the players I have give absolutely everything. Now we can only concentrate on the league through to Christmas. We have to make sure we stay up in the top six in the league and keep fighting. Hopefully we can reinforce again in January,” said Rodgers, whose team play against Swansea during the weekend.
