ARSENAL SUFFER MAJOR INJURY SCARE

North London giants Arsenal suffered a big injury scare after Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard was subbed off during the World Cup 2022 qualifier between his Norway team and Gibraltar on Wednesday night. Martin Odegaard is on loan at Arsenal from Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid having joined the Gunners in the winter transfer window earlier this year.

Odegaard will stay with the Gunners until the end of the season and the new Norwegian national team skipper had toleave the Gibraltar game at the half-time break after he rolled his ankle towards the end of the first half. Martin Odegaardcould miss the Liverpool game on April 3 in the Premier League shortly after the international break if the ankle issue is serious. Arsenal and Liverpool meet at the Emirates Stadium with two places and four points separating the teams.

Arsenal fans would be hoping that the ankle problem is not a serious one and that Martin Odegaard could take his place in the Gunners starting XI ahead of the Liverpool game next week Saturday. The Gunners also have to face Slavia Prague of the Czech Republic over two legs in the Europa League if they want a semi-final berth.

The two teams namely Arsenal and Slavia Prague were drawn together during the Europa League quarterfinal draw held on Friday with the winner of the tie scheduled to meet the winner of the quarterfinal tie between Villarreal and Dinamo Zagreb. Slavia Prague are a tough nut to crack in the Europa League this season having been responsible for the exit of British teams like Leicester City and Rangers.
