LIVERPOOL HANDED MAJOR TITLE DENT

At the start of the season, one of the main objectives was to get the title off rivals Manchester City but that’s looking unlikely especially after Liverpool were beaten at Leicester City and Manchester City seeing off London team Brentford with the games ending with a 1-0 scoreline.

Liverpool have a game in hand on Premier League table toppers Manchester City due to the postponed home clash with Leeds United on Boxing Day at the instance of the Whites. To this effect, Liverpool began the Leicester City with a six-point deficit to the Citizens after the leaders thumped Leicester City 6-3 for their own Boxing Day fixture.

The Merseysiders missed out on the chance to put pressure on City ahead of their trip to faceBrentford later in the week after they were beaten at Leicester City on Tuesday. Nigerian-born Ex-England junior international AdemolaLookman was the hero for Leicester City after he scored as a second half substitute to give his team slender 1-0 win over Liverpool. The game was dominated by the Reds but Leicester City were solid defensively and they rode their luck at times on the way to a big win which pushed them into the top half of the league table as far as the English top flight is concerned.

Liverpool paid dearly for the dropped points against Leicester City after Manchester City beat Brentford 1-0 to move nine points clear at the summit. The Citizens were not at their best but they still did more than enough to get the three points thanks to the strike from England player Phil Foden off the assist fromKevin De Bruyne. Foden scored the only goal of the match on 16 minutes and it was enough to secure the three points on offer in what was his first start in three league games.
