JurgenKlopp and his Liverpool players are fighting for the Premier League title with Chelsea and Manchester City. With this in mind, they know that the luxury of dropping points is not accorded to them ahead of the short trip to face Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday night. Liverpool were able to show their flex title muscles on the way to a convincing victory at the expense of their hosts.

Liverpool got the floodgate of goals underway as early as the ninth minute as reward for a fast start to the Merseyside Derby duel. Reds skipper Jordan Henderson produced a sweet left-footed finish to give his team lead off the cutback from Scotland international Andy Robertson. Liverpool scored a second goal through the league’s topscorer Mohamed Salah on 19 minutes.

Everton found a route back into the game through winger Demarai Gray seven minutes before the first half ended. The goal conceded rattled Liverpool a bit as the home team mounted pressure on them, but they were able to hold out for a 2-1 lead at the halfway point of the game.

Liverpool thereafter resumed the second half like they started the first half, but Everton were still in the game until the 64th minute when Salah pounced on the mistake on Everton skipper Seamus Coleman to race clear and slot home a third goal for Liverpool. Portugal international Diogo Jota then wrapped up the 4-1 victory with his third goal in two games as the Reds’ three-match winless run against Liverpool came to an end. With the defeat to Liverpool, Everton have now lost five of their last six Premier League games.
