LIVERPOOL TRIO DOUBTFUL FOR INTER GAME

Three Liverpool players are doubtful for the visit of Inter Milan in the Champions League later this week. Merseyside giants Liverpool play hosts to Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan in the second leg of their round of 16 tie and three of their players could miss the game. The three Liverpool players doubtful for the game are Roberto Firmino, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip.

Ex-TSG Hoffenheim attacker Firmino has been missing in action for Liverpool over the last three weeks after he picked up a muscle injury during the first leg clash with the Nerazzuri. He played the whole second half of the first leg with Inter Milan after coming on for Diogo Jota who had to leave the game because of an injury. Firmino was able to do a significant damage to the Nerazzuri in his time on the pitch in the second half as he was responsible for the first Liverpool goal before fellow attacker Mohamed Salah added a second goal to put the Premier League heavyweights in a very good position to seal a quarterfinal berth. The two goals were scored in the final sixteen (16) minutes of the game.

On Firmino and his availability for the second leg clash with Inter Milan, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told media practitioners that the Brazilian has returned to training, but they might have to give him some time to recover well. According to him, it might make sense to give Firmino more days to recover.

Cameroonian defender Matip is a doubt for the Inter game after missing the West Ham United game in the league this weekend due to illness. He was absent as Sadio Mane scored the only goal of the game to lead Liverpool to a 1-0 home win over the Hammers.

Spanish international midfielder Thiago also missed the West Ham United game due to a thigh injury and he’s a doubt for the Inter game. Thiago has missed the last two Liverpool matches against Norwich City and West Ham United in all competitions since he was removed from the starting XI for the Chelsea game in the Carabao Cup final due to the injury.
