Liverpool are likely to break their transfer record for AS Roma attacker Mohammed Salah.

The sporting director of the Italian side Monchi confirmed the interest from the Merseyside club. Roma are hoping to get more £35 million for the player. The director admitted that the player could join Anfield this summer even though talks have been stalled over the transfer price for the 24-year old star.

Jurgen Klopp wants Salah to join the team ahead of the pre-season training in early July. He wants the new player in his attacking team as he searches for a top defender to help with the woes of last term.

“For Salah, there is an offer from an English club but the price will be set by Roma, not the buyers. As I’ve said before, Roma is not a supermarket. Roma is a team that will represent Italy in Europe. We came second in Serie A and out idea is to keep as good a team as possible,” Monchi claimed. Klopp Refuses to Be Drawn into Questions about Mamadou Sakho

Jurgen Klopp has opened up on the future of defender Mamadou Sakho, and he says that he does not want to be drawn on conclusions just yet.

The former Paris St Germain defender fell out of favour withKlopp in the summer. After having just played a key role in the club’s revival last season, he did not feature in the first half of the season. Sakho was frozen out of the action, but Klopp finally provided him with the escape option. The defender was allowed to leave the club on a loan deal until the end of the campaign, and Crystal Palace took full advantage of his presence.

Sam Allardyce was able to bring in Sakho on a loan deal until the end of the season, and this transfer has worked like a charm for the London outfit. After struggling with a relegation throughout the campaign, Crystal Palace have been able to secure four wins in the last five league matches – including a 3-0 win over Arsenal and a 2-1 win over Chelsea. They are looking at Jonas Hector, who is a defender of the Koln team. It seems that he would be available for a fraction of the original asking price. Hector was said to be moving to Anfield and newspapers quoted that he was looking for a price tag of £25million. There were reports of interests being generated by the player by teams like Barcelona and Tottenham who are Premier League rival for Liverpool. It was reported that the offers were for £15m. Brendan Rodgers confident of Club to get back in Next Season

Brendan Rodgers has promised that Liverpool will be challenging for the title next season after failing to hit the heights of last season. Liverpool narrowly missed out on the league title for the first time in their history, as they finished only a couple of points behind Manchester City.

They were expected to build on this success, but the club are struggling to even finish in a top four place. This has largely been because of several restructuring in the squad after the exit of Luis Suarez. The club spent more than € 100 million on several new players, but most of them have failed to settle so far.

The club is showing signs of recovering with Rodgers using a different formation in the last few matches. Liverpool are unbeaten in all competitions since the 3-0 defeat against Manchester United in the middle of December. Raheem Sterling has been at the centre of this revival.
