Jurgen Klopp heaps praise on left-back Andrew Robertson

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Andrew Robertson after witnessing the progress made by the Scot over the past 15 months. The left-back initially struggled to make himself a regular after his move from Hull City last summer but he has since transformed his game to become one of the first names on the teamsheet.

As such, Klopp has been impressed with the way the defender’s career has paved and believes the Scot would only get better with the recent leadership duties with his national team, he said: “Andy is a fantastic fella. He is a very smart and nice person. He can be a leader in the future, 100 per cent,He made big steps in the last one-and-a-half years since we worked together. That’s really cool. He has made big steps in the last four or five years since he started his career. So it’s a nice story. “He is still young but he is a leader already and he will be even better in that in the future.”

Robertson was made the permanent captain of Scotland during the recent international friendly against Belgium at Hampden Park but the match was one to forget for the team after they were convincing beaten by a 4-0 scoreline. Nonetheless, the Scots have managed to overcome the loss with an astounding 2-0 triumph over Albania in the Nations League opener and the victory keeps their dream alive of reaching a major tournament.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have made a strong start to the Premier League season with four straight victories and this sees them right at the top of the table. Despite this, they have yet to face any real test and the forthcoming run of fixtures should test them with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur to face. In between that, they also have tricky Champions League games against Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli.
