Leicester City star flattered to be linked with a move to Liverpool

Leicester City midfielder Wilfried Ndidi has admitted that he is flattered to be linked with a club of Liverpool’s calibre. The Nigeria international has been one of the Foxes’ most consistent players over the past few seasons and this has witnessed him linked regularly with a big move away from the King Power Stadium.

Ahead of Nigeria’s African Cup of Nations opener, Ndidi said that he has been flattered with the speculated interest from the Reds but there has been no contact whatsoever regarding the same, he told: “I am flattered when hearing such a thing, It is very good to hear about that interest from big clubs, but there is nothing on the ground so I won’t care about it. I am focusing on AFCON with Nigeria now, and then pre-season with Leicester City. We have a great manager with ambition to compete with big clubs in the Premier League.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently filled with multiple midfielders and there does not seem an active need to make another addition. Nonetheless, the club’s owner John Henry has indicated that funds are readily available for a spending spree and there should be some movement from the club in the transfer window this summer.

Meanwhile, the Foxes showed a good level of progress under Brendan Rodgers during the backend of the previous season and reports have suggested that the former Liverpool boss could be handed with a mega budget for the summer to make the push for Europe next term. Nonetheless, the east Midlands outfit face a potential battle to keep hold of some of the existing players amid interest from top Premier League clubs.

Apart from Ndidi, the likes of Harry Maguire and James Maddison have been associated with potential moves. Maguire, in particular, has been heavily touted to pursue a bigger challenge with both Manchester United and Manchester City in the running to recruit him.
